Duration & Itinerary


This trek typically spans 21-25 days, including acclimatization and travel days.




  1. Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad. Briefing at the Alpine Club of Pakistan.

  2. Day 2: Flight to Skardu (or drive if the flight is canceled).

  3. Day 3: Rest and final preparations in Skardu.

  4. Day 4-5: Drive to Askole (last inhabited village) and trek to Jhola.

  5. Day 6-10: Trek along the Baltoro Glacier, passing PaiyuUrdokas, and Goro II, arriving at Concordia, known as the “Throne Room of the Mountain Gods.”

  6. Day 11: Explore K2 Base Camp (5,150 m) and enjoy unparalleled views of the mighty K2.

  7. Day 12-14: Trek to Ali Camp and prepare for the Gondogoro La Pass crossing.

  8. Day 15: Cross the Gondogoro La Pass (requires technical climbing equipment) and descend to Khuspang.

  9. Day 16-20: Trek through the Hushe Valley and return to Skardu.

  10. Day 21: Return to Islamabad.


 


 


Best Time to Visit


The ideal trekking seasons are:




  • Summer (June to August): Best weather conditions with clear skies and manageable temperatures.

  • Spring (May): Fewer crowds, but some areas may still have heavy snow.


Weather Conditions




  • Daytime temperatures: 15-20°C at lower altitudes.

  • Nighttime temperatures: -10°C to -20°C at higher altitudes (K2 Base Camp and Gondogoro La Pass).

  • Rainfall: Rare, but unpredictable weather can bring snowstorms at higher elevations.
